DIY Salt? is it possible?

    I see the salt is so expensive, have anyone tried to make there own salt?:thumbup:

    Doubt that lol give it a try tho epsom salts bi-soda cal chloride and the old famous cerebos sodium and lil slaked lime. I'm joking btw

    I've made salt before. Becides the minor elements, there's not much in salt water.

    There was a thread regarding this issue on masa. At the end of the day it would cost you more to make it than buy it.

    Made it while at university, we used artificial sea water to eliminate variation between experiments.
    Get recipe, mix chemicals, add water.

    interesting to find out but i doubt its worth the effort. good quality salt cost around R1 per liter

    Ok someone can comment here. From what I kno is 35g of salt makes a litre of water. So from a kg of salt you get roughly 28l of salt water. cost of salt roughly R10 a kg assuming you using the best available. Plus the main other elements ca mg alk il add R20. Works out to like R50 to make up 100l that's besides buying a bottle of trace elements.

    and besides the time one has to spend mixing everything up and getting it to the right proportions
