DIY Nano

    i have 60l tank an wanted to know whether those freshwater hang-on filters would work and eliminate the use of a skimmer or if you guys have any other suggestions.thanks

    I've been told that its quite sufficient if you switch the filter medium with charcoal and phosphate remover.

    I wouldn't recomend not running a tank without a skimmer, I made that mistake once and won't do it again. You can change the filter medium to charcoal and anti-phos but we all run that on our tanks with a skimmer. Best would be to buy a small skimmer(via-aqua or something) or even better make your own and make it external if you want to eliminate a sump. A 60 litre tank is very small and almost impossible to maintain without proper filtration. Just my 2 cents...

    Thats great, just have a peek at the DIY part on the forum. There's allot of DIY skimmer plans, internal and external...

    how about doing everything in glass.is it cheaper to have it cut and drilled or should i buy the bit and glass cutter.Im planning on having a built in sump with skimmer all in glass depending on which works out cheaper
