DIY MH and uv glass

    where can one get UV glass for use with a MH150w in jhb?

    from what i have heard its only tempered.. i did research this for a guy earlier this year.. the size is the problem as not all manufacturers can temper a small piece of glass..

    Its just tempered on the double ended 150w'ers i believe, the DE bulbs have a built in UV shield, tempered glass should take care of the UV anyways

    You can get it from radiant lighting. its about R80 IIRC

    The problem with tempering is that those guys are paid on the glass size and it does not pay them as well if doing small glass. It took lots of persuasion to have smallish piece tempered recently. Worst of all it seems like something almost impossible to DIY, The heating of the glass I can do in the wife's pottery oven, but you need some chemical to treat the glass before it is heated up. If someone can find some of that chemical i will do the heating of the glass mahala.
