Quite a few members have asked me about this, thought I'll open a thread with al the links listed as to how to make live rock. Maybe the mods can make this a sticky.

    Some nice samples:

And here you can find a video from Youtube how to go about doing it.

Hope this can help out a couple of people ;)

    Remember:

Be careful adding this to an existing tank. Make sure that the rock is fully cured, otherwise it can kill off your tank!!!!

    Thank You Sean

If i dont have aragonite, or crushed shells - would crushed coral bits do the job?

Crushed coral bits would do, but I would strongly advise using Arogonite in different sizes. But you can find Aragonite at most of the LFS'es

Alex Correa explains all about the purpose of live rock and offers a step-by-step guide to making your own artificial hard stuff...
The popularity of reef aquariums has been responsible for much global investment this past decade. Some ideas and systems have changed, but always stable is the concept of live rock, supporting, as it does, the beneficial bacteria that’s needed.
Natural or artificial, it represents the most important component of natural marine systems.
