Saw these nifty coffee tables in various sizes in 10mm glass, curved. Would work nicely for a nano all you need to add is a floating base and a rear panel. I also saw a full length coffee table about a metre in length. They available at Coricraft stores. Im sure u can find it in various interior shops. I saw these at a factory shop and the whole three was 1k so about 300 each.

Any glass with curves on it places undue pressure on the bends when having the pressure of water behind it. aquah2o tanks being the prime example. i wouldnt go that route at all.

Agreed but that glass looks 10mm all the way, where the h2o tanks were a bit thiner and the bends. Tagging along, want to see it when its done.

Im not prepared to take the risk. save a couple of hundred rand on tank and lose thousands of rands in livestock is false economy.

fair enough but don't you think the pressure wont be that much seeing that the tank is small?

will be tagging. Maybe add bracing but I cant see that it would be necessary. What size tank are you building?

I must say, I've been eyeing those tables in PE for a year now, I'll also be tagging along...

Out of interest how would you cut the base to match the curve? Good find and will be following to see how it works out :)

    Nice idea.
Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a curved glass tank.
    Whats the size of them?

No intention of building one yet as im currently knee deep in my current build, just posted as a possible DIY idea.

I here the concerns but this tank will only be like 450 deep and if u consider an overflow into a sump maybe WD at 400. The smaller tables are much shallower but still made out of 10mm glass.

For the base a glazer can easily belt sand the corners slightly to fit as close as possible.

On small dimensions like that the curves will not be an issue. All small JBJ and Boyu nanos are curved and not one has popped like the 1.2m and larger ones.
