hi guys...actually posting on behalf of my wife's tank....maybe any ideas on whats happening.

over the last week her shrooms started dissintegrating, the weird thing is only some colonies. Ive been up in the middle of the night looking for culprits etc...nothing. could a large hermit do this

the only inmates are softies, the hermit , tomato clown, my baby snoflake (my shark will still have him for beakfast!) and a manderin. all are well

heres here params (doubt though if it is related)

    Temp 25
Sal 1026 (will do WC today) so that may change a bit
    KH 10
    PH 8.6
Ca 380 (bit worried but will see what happens after WC)
    No2 0,1
    No3 20 - High
    NH4 0.05
    PO4 0.25

any ideas / input appreciated even critisism :whistling:

You won't get a definitive answer as it could really be a zillion things causing it. Just do what's within your power. Your nutrient levels are very high. Don't allow your kh to go any higher. Your CA is fine, definitly won't cause a problem, especially if it's not being consumed. I've never heard of a hermit eating shrooms unless they're damaged and he's possibly eating the dead flesh?

What's your lighting llike? although I'm with the other guys on something eating them. Try moving them in the tank and see what happens

I could never find what was eating my zoanthids till I moved tank and I found a 30cm long worm in my substrate.

tony i re thought your issue regarding the lighting...could be, heres my theory (might be completely off the mark)

the only colonies being affected are the green ones as far as i ma aware the green ones have a higher concentration of photosynthetic bacteria (wich shows up green uder our lighting) thus if there is not enough light they would start to die off thus starving the shrooms...as i said i might be completely wrong

to test my theory i moved one colony to my tank to see what happens as i have much stronger lighting
