    image.jpeg hi

My Zoa's are disappearing. Used to be two big nice pieces , now they got empty patches. My tank has gone through a lot, do you think it's water quality ( just put in phosphate remover ) or is something eating them ?

What fish do you have in your tank?

I doubt that the fish would be the culprits. My guess would be the hermits are the most likely culprits if its not your parameters.

Okay , so my zoa's have stopped disappearing , but now only the zoas at the back of the tank open, also not 100% , maybe 80, but front ones maybe 10% open. I got a new light , could that be causing it ? The ones not opening don't get that much light directly . I think I might have to raise the lights ( zetlight 6400 on rim with standard tank mount, 2cm from water )

@dubediver I am glad yours stopped disappearing.

I had a beautiful colony, it was fine for a few months and then I got a pox outbreak, 2 of the 3 colonies got pox and drastically receded and died off. One night after lights out I saw movement and watched a hairy crab blissfully eating some zoas.

I dont know if the crab had been irritating the zoas and that caused the pox outbreak or if the crab was just eating the dying zoas.

Either way you just might have a crab that got bigger and is starting to eat more.........but you said they are not disappearing anymore so I dont know then, this was just what I experienced and saw when my zoas started to disappear.
