    Hi All,

For those people using the Vertex Illumilux series of CREE LEDs .....

Are these LEDs dimmable ? If they are not produced that way, has anyone managed to create a dimming regulator for these lights or are they simply not dimmable at all

    Thanks

Out of the box they are not dimmable but there is a controller from the supplier in SA (The Serious Reefer) that can do it. Not sure if he has the controllers in stock yet. There have been other threads about someone wanting to use the reef angel controller to dim them. Not sure if he got it right though.

Chat to Nathan at T.S.R they are suppose to have a programmable, dimmable after market module made by Vertex that you can buy and plug-in to them.

    Thanks
Is this the one that can simulate sunrise / sunset .... ?

BTW : Although this sounds like a very cool "gimmick" is there some merit (advantage to the tank) in doing this simulation ? or is it more for the owner's amusement ?

intimating this is giving it the natural feel like it would be in the ocean. stimulating the corals and fish. so i think it is better to do it that way. when lights just go on and off the fish always startles a bit. but with sunrise and sunset they are eased into it.

Ok, then how does the normal household lighting affect them ? My tank (when built ) will be sitting in my lounge .... does this mean I must either go to sleep at 6 or watch TV in the dark ?:whistling:
