Diatoms / Algae Problem - Please Help

Hi Folks,

So my tank has been established for almost a year and the levels all seemed good to me, but I'm getting crazy algae/diatoms on my sand. Put it this way, I cleaned the sand fairly well a few days ago and already the sand is brown and I just don't know what to do to get rid of this awful algae.

What are your parameters ?
What flow do you have in the tank ? and What filtration you using ?

How often are you doing a 15 - 20 % water change?

generally in my exprience is that is from an increase in silicates and possibly phosphates, your testkit might show 0 but i would run GFO for a few days
