    Hi all Cape Town race heads.

    Anyone know where I can have one done? I have a fuel hungry mk3 gti (eats R100 petrol from Mitchells Plain to Diep River and back every time:eek:) and was told it must go on the machine to be checked out.

    I went to Windsor garage in Parow today but they not there anymore and Barons charges R670 for the test alone.:eek:

    Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to go or what to do?
    P.s car just had a service as well.
    @Nur, @Ayoob, @Nanos'R'us, @Duri and anyone else.

    Thanks, would be much appreciated.

    P.s Mods I know that its not the right forum, just thought I'd get more views here but do move if not allowed.
    Thanks

    your CO2 setting is out if its eating fuel. Meaning the Air and fuel mixture running to rich.
    Go to any garage that Has CO2 Machine maybe they can sort it out. Not necessary to pay R670

    mk3 gti is fuel injected hey?
    Could be many reasons boet,did u change to different spark plugs?
    Ayoob is right fuel ratio could be way out or your idling could be off aswell?what rpm does it sit at when idle,and does it smell very rich in petrol at idle?

    and missing when u driving,ie jerks?
    Mitchels plain has of the best mechanics,well atleast guys who build fast cars im sure someone close by can look at it

    or try <Maitland auto clinic or Steves Auto clinic they have all dianostics equipmnt but expect to pay about the price VW quoted you

    goodluck

    @maj, Yip its fuel injected.
    Replaced spark plugs with the same ones.

    Ok let me give you a run down on the car quick.

    It has not been in use for a few years due to my uncle getting a company vehicle and when I got my license last year I started making use of the car. At that time the clutch was slipping but was soon replaced. A few months back the cam belt broke leading to a valve being bent.

    I had it fixed last month and had a service done as well, was hoping that it just needed a service but its still fuel hungry. The timing was out as well but the guy who worked on the car set it too high - 1100 rpm, where it use to be at 800 rpm and was told by him that I need to take it to a specialist.

    Bru if u bent valves they would've done the cars head over,they would skim it and that will make it more heavier on juice.The idle is easily adjustable by idle control valve unless as adobo said,they co is way off.
    Get it sorted or stop driving to perkys,lol

    Ok that I didnt know... Will adjust the idle for the time being and take it to someone to check out the co2. Must add that its not as heavy on juice as it was before though.
    But yeah I slowed down on the trips to perky's lol at least with the car... saves more than just petrol money.:lol:
