    Detailed help request
Are you experiencing any problems in your tank?
    Yes
    Brief Description
    Hi guys.
I need some help. I put in a sponge on Wednesday and on Thursday it had completely dissolved. So I tuck some water to Dory Pets to test and they let me know all the parameters are 100%. So my question is what else could have caused this? The sponge was healthy in Dory’s tank.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Did you expose the sponge to air when you transferred it to your tank? Also, did you drip it before putting it into your tank.

some sponges cannot handle air at all. And being filter feeders that pump a lot of water, they can be sensitive to water parameter changes.

most sponges die with even the smallest exposure to air, you should have been told this where u bought it

We gave him the sponge at no cost.

I find this sponge to be very tough. I have cut and fragged pieces out of my DT and placed them in many different tanks in our shop sometimes outside of the water for more than a minute and without dripping. (They are like Die hard!!)

This sponge is growing like crazy in our shop and customers regularly request frags and we gladly give them away due to them growing so quickly and being so hardy.

This is the first incident of a frag dying...
    :p

there could bemany reasons, and blue sponge is very hardy, i have done the same.
it could have been many things from, diff params from source to destination, parasites, or just good old plain bad luck

You want my opinion, keep that sponge out of your systems. It will eventually take over and kill corals and is toxic when you tear it off. I recently had to redo my entire DT because of it.
