Diatom blooms can occur in tanks well up to one year old. What substrate have you got?

Has it been like this constantly for 8 weeks?

I would stop doing waterchanges for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

i agree, dont make changes for atleast 4weeks to get some stability etc.
what additives are u using? phos removers? etc

I'd test some freshly-mixed saltwater for silica. If the level is close to that of the tank, then I suspect the pest is not diatoms. Snails are quite happy to eat diatoms.

yes it's been like this for 8 weeks now, goes away during the night, back in the morning.
I'm not using any type of media, never have, started dosing the brightwell alk 8.3 from 2 weeks ago because my alk was sitting at 5dkh and pH at 7.8, brought it up to the current 11dkh and 8.3 pH over a 10-day period.
    Not using any other additives.
The snails do munch on it but very little, my turbo doesnt touch the substrate, he stays on the back pane most of the time.
Could it be that my RO machine's filters need replacement ?
How do I test for silica ? is there a kit for this ?

have you RO unit tested to see the TDS, and u can get a silica test kit from salifert, but a lfs should be able to test for this
