    Hi all

Just converted my old 1500l tropical tank to a marine tank . It is running 10 days now. No fish yet just live rock .. My Ph level is 8.5 ... Is that okay ?

    Welcome to MASA

8.5 PH is fine your tank will start with a nitrite and ammonia spike until this go down no fish in your tank.

    Welcome!

There are lots of places! Dorry Pets in Centurion, Idol Marine in Midrand, Jungle Aquatics in Honeydew and a couple of LFS's around too. Check out the Sponsors forum! They have some good stuff!

    Post pics!!

shop around with all the sponsors. Wild on Pets in Edenvale is quite close to you but you will travel around a bit to get the things you want most.

Dont put corals in yet either. let your tank cycle for at least 6 weeks before you start adding livestock of any kind. take a sample of your water to one of the sponsors to get it tested once a week until you see your water has stabilized.

Slow is successful, fast is a F%&*# up.

take it easy and read read read.

And dont be scared to ask stupid questions......... those questions save you money and heart ache in the long run.

did you use RO (reverse osmosis) water when setting up?
    What salt did you use?
what sand or substrate have you got?
give us a breakdown of the tank and equipment.
