deionizor

    ok we have a deionizor at work can i use this water in my tank or not it says under the safty precautions of the filter the following

    Deionized water must not be consumed in any way. it is not fit for drinking

    i was hoping i can use this water as top up water in my tank but now i am not sure

    It could be fine, you could test the TDS to see if it ok, but personally i'd not take the chance.....just in case.

    rather use r.o.water as de-ionized water .....that is made from just a de-ionizer.....IE anion and cation exchange in a demin plant can grow amines which would not be advisable at all to drink or add to an aquarium.
    generally amines have a slight fish paste smell, so if you wanna check without doing tests, you can try and smell the water
