My Anenome deflates itself everyday for about two hrs since I got him 2weeks ago. My tank is two years old with LED lighting and all parameters seem normal. Is this normal behavior from the anenome?

    Hi, firstly, welcome...
Does this happen at the same time every day?
Is it close to feeding time?
Is there a change of lighting eg lights on/ off?
Could there be any other inhabitants nearby that is possibly irritating it? Eg clowns trying to host?

Anemones do deflate from time to time, I would only really be concerned if it stays deflated for days on end.

What LED lighting exactly do u have? Anemones are tricky, but as long as he is staying put in one place, he should be ok....

Hi Magalos! A very WARM welcome to MASA! Great to have you on-board!

This is only "normal" of anemone's, if they are not happy. Is this anemone "hidden away" at all? Have you tried feeding the magnifica at all? What water flow do you have in the tank?

Magnifica anemone's prefer surge-type flow, and NOT direct jet-stream type water flow. If you have a wave-maker in the tank, then this would be great. And you should have at least 30 to 50 times water flow inside your DT (times the display tank water volume).

Please post a pic of the anemone when it is extended, and when it is deflated.

Also - please let us know what type of power-heads, how many/size, you have?

Also perhaps give us more info of what size your tank is and what other lifestock you are keeping in the tank?

Lights and flow are to low. Mine does it two days after a feed and I only feed it once a week. Mine is about the size of a extra large pizza ( USA size )

They require strong lighting like 250w metal halide, the flow you have in your tank is way to small for it to be happy. What is your parameters?

I fitted two metal halide lights and he still got worse and eventually died three weeks later, I think this anenome was sick when I got him!

    Thanks for the help anyway!
