I just love these animals, i got myself one again, coz i lost my previous one to a stray mantis shrimp(bastard removed). Who else have got a crabby, and how big do they get? mine is currently propegating my buttons, coz they are all over, stuck on the rocks and opening up

Does you decorator crab attack your fish or soft-corals at all, Frankie Fish? I have, but, since I moved my life stock from my small tank to my main reef tank, I have this guy in the sump. What do they eat/live on - does anyone know? I don't want to place it in my main reef tank, in fear that I might lose life stock?

Just read up on the decorator crab. They seem not to be safe with invertebrates in a reef tank.....

It does nothing to my livestock, except for plucking buttons ect to camo itself, but when it comes loose it gets stuck on rocks, and whalla, natural propegation. i get sea clams at checkers, damage the shell, and then the crab find it,opens it up and chows on it. i usually do this twice a week, just bwfore the lights go off, cause it's a nocturnal hunter/scavenger,then i watch as it devours the clam.

It's housed with a small boxing shrimp, and i also read from Petco.com that they also do well with Arrow crabs.note on one of the pics how the crab is eating the clam (1st pic) I also have a compatibility chart which i got from petco.com. they have nice profiles, kinda like Dr's foster and smith

Jacques is that the one u got from me? If so he was housed with a cleaner shrimp and never bothered him. Didn't touch any coral besides my clavularia. I was feeding him a little piece of shrimp every 3 or 4 days which he went crazy for. I personally dont think he would touch a fish. Never did in my tank as far as i know.

Hey Steve! Yes man! The one and only! And no - I have not yet placed the baby in my main reef tank yet. I was not 100% sure if it would be ok. But, it is still doing great in my tank's sump mate....

Once I have moved house, and re-done my tank, I will move the decorator crab up to my tank!
