Danie is a good friend of mine and a newbie on this forum but he used to have a 3m+ tank in the 70s I think.

He has good knowledge of marines and his problem according to me is the time he was out of the hobby, returning to find all these new filtering and other stuff used nowadays.

He has a standard 4ft tank with a standard 3ft sump. The overflow water goes through a wool filter before it goes down to the ATS that handles all the return water. The ATS dumps the water into the chamber that houses a TS1 skimmer. From there the water flows over a DSB that is probably a bit more than 50% of the sump and the last chamber has the pumps in it.

He also has a external filter hooked to this and in it is carbon and some phosphate remover I think. Then there is 2 x white and 2 x blue T% lights I think. I will try to upload some photos of his setup tomorrow, please give him a hand- his biggest issues up to now was nitrates and now GHA.
