    Howdy!

well now that i stopped moving and renovating, after 7 months i can get my tank up and running again.
I am going to shutdown my 2 nano's and rebuild those and use the stock for my new 4ft.

    the basics:

1200x450x450 DT, with single corner overlfow, water at 430, so a volume of 227L.
I have 2 sumps for it
one is 1000 x 400 x 600, with 3 chambers, the first is the mechanical, the second is a dsb which is 80cm x 40cm with a LR stand above, the 3rd chamber has about 2kgs of zeolite for bacteria growth, and then it overflows to the next sump. The other is 1100 x 400 x 600, with 4 chambers, the first will have my ts2 and chemical filters, then another LR chamber, a small dsb and finally the return to the tank.

I have turned a sand filter into a carbon reactor.
I have also created a 100L cryptic zone filter to add more bio-diversity.

my return is life tech 3000L pump, with 5 sunsun 5000Lph for the DT. I have created a closed loop LR stand as well, and going to have about 5-8cm of gravel in my tank.

    for lighting i have homemade light unit, 20k mh 150w and 2 t5's 30w, with 2 mh 150 10k as well, plus 4 t8's 30w.

for the sump and ATS i have ordered 4 mh 35w 3000k

    thats it for now

    Sounds awesome Dallas!

Why 25000L/h of flow though in a 227L LPS tank?

Ya alternating them sounds good, think it would be too much flow for the LPS if they were all on at the same time constantly :)

sounds like a nice system dallas:)

just watch detritus build up in the LR sections of the sump, and that does sound like over kill with the internal fløow, especially if you have a closed loop through the LR stand too.

thats also great lighting, over kill perhaps for LPS, are u aiming at a nennie in there too at a later stange or sps?

    thanks crispin...

what i have done, will post pics as soon as i can, is placed the rock on stands and used a small tubing to blow across the bottom to keep thingsin the water column, i am hoping my mech filter will remove as much as possible as well.

for the flow and lighting i have it all lying around and thought might as well use it. i am going to alternate the powerheads etc just to keep them on their "feet"

ultimately a nemmie like the beaut u had, and some plating monti, but going to alternate the lights, first the t5's and t8s, then 20k mh, then midday till 4ish all three mh, then dim them to the 20k only. figured i will experiment and see how thry like it.

best way to know is to try it all :)

how much LR are you planning in there, and why LR in sump and not in DT, just to increase overall amounts?

i have plenty base/biorock left over, and might be usefull if i get carried away stocking..
i have 30kg LR for the dt, a nice center reef, and about 20kg for the sumps.

mostly in the sump to add some gogga's etc to the dsb's
