I hear that the D+D H2Ocean salt is now available in SA. I wonder how it will compare to the other premium salt mixes? Maybe some of the members outside of SA that have used it can comment.

Well the Deltec distributor is Exotic so i would assume that any retailer stocking Tropic Marine will have it.

Would love to see the comparison with other salts like Seachem or Tropic Marin.

I was at Exotic yesterday and saw it. My salesman told me that it is cheaper than Tropic Marine, yet exactly the same. He says that he actaully recons it comes from the exact same factory. They will still mix with TM salt though...

Sounds like your salesman might have been the tea boy. Because he has not got a clue what he is talking about.

I had a long conversation with the manager, not the owner, today and was told that the H2Ocean salt is about 10% cheaper than the tropic Marine Pro reef. It is also a premium salt and is not to be compared with TM classic and the other salts available.

It is most definitely not made in the same factory and is totally different.
The process how TM salt is made is all the make up components are mixed then dissolved and then dried. After it crystallises it is ground to what is supplied. So each granule has all the elements as stated on the packaging.

Deltec H2Ocean salt is a blend so each granule has different chemical makeup.

My take on it is that i just hope it does not affect the availability of the TM pro reef salt. Would hate to have to make a forced change.

Great info Nemo. I always wondered why TM is so fine and has such a low moisture content. Thanks for the info.
