Howzit fellow members and salt addicts.
OK my tank has been cycling for almost 6 weeks and I'm not getting any joy yet. Skimmer has been running 24/7 and skimming brown mud, smells real bad.
Blue light on for 12 hrs a day and white light on for 4 hrs a day in combination.
    Amonia 0 last Friday
Nitrites where high, can't tell you the value but test colour was light purple ( Aqueria testing once a week for me)
Nitrate was looking slightly higher than Nitrites when tested and was a darker purple than Nitrites.
I added some clean up crew about 2 weeks ago to clear diatom Bloom and they still doing good.
Got 3 small zoa's in the tank that were added along with CUC and they doing fine.
My question is after I tested my water last Friday I have si had some green algae start growing and a purplish type start aswell. Please see the pics below and can some one explain if I'm completely messing up or if this is sign I'm nearing the end or is it all but a lost cause and I might aswell throw in the towel.

Haven't done a single water change yet as I was advised not to. Only been topping up with RO and tank was filled natural sea water. Salinity is good when I tested with hand held unit yesterday.

@TaahirS are there any algae that give you a clue you nearing the end...I'm about ready to flood my lounge with a t.v remote thrown at the tank. 6 weeks watching nothing is trying my patience

Really don't see a problem here. That is barely any algae and is no cause for concern. What are your exact nitrate/nitrite readings?

@459b unfortunately I'm not testing myself so can't really answer that question. When testing the only answer I get is Nitrites are high , see here and I'm shown the testing colour chart.
Will be investing in my own kits month end.

Nitrate was 80 - 100 if not slightly higher

Not familiar with those kits but I know the others have a fairly large range so saying it's dark/light doesn't really help the client at all.
The zoas look happy enough so I wouldn't stress.
Besides the skimmer, what other filtration are you running?

@459b no other form of filtration yet but I'm looking into a filter sock or something similar. Not quite sure what options I have available but I have come to the conclusion it is needed

Depending on sump layout, maybe look at getting some macro algae

I wouldn't add fish until nitrites are 0

@TaahirS yip after 6weeks and still no fish I guess I'll have to hold on for longer...hope these Nitrites dissappear quick now though. Whish there was a time frame that was available so this guessing game and hoping every test day Friday that this will be the weekend for water change and fish.

I'd try testing with another kit, maybe get a reefer to borrow you a salifert so you can see exactly what the nitrite reading is. Cycle should be near completion by now, shouldn't have such high nitrites still.
