curing LR

    Hi Guys, could someone please tell me again how it is done, Iv got a piece LR that sat in the sun for about 3weeks, so i scrubbed it thoroughly and washed it with RO, cant i just put it in my sump, in my skimmer comp. for lets say a month, then into DT, or should i cure it in the bucket method, skimmer, powerheads water change 3 months low lighting, all of that stuff, please help

    the reality is no matter how much you scrub it it will be full off dead bacteria and other pods that will raise your nitrates and cause a spike in your parameters. it will cause your tank to cycle again.

    My opinion is that it must be cycled seperately from the system. the painfully long curing process. Shortcuts usually end in heartbreak in this hobby (or obsession:p)

    I'm sure the gurus of this forum will shed more light.

    I would soak it in ro for two weeks and then put it in a bucket with saltwater with a water pump to circulate water for two weeks to three weeks

    yes thought so, thanx, dam curing process, um why must i soak it in ro water

    How big is the piece of live rock you want to add and how much live rock is already in the tank?

    Just something i do to non lfs liverock to pull phosphates and nitrates out. seems to prevent algae on the specific pieces. this in a mandarinman thing.

    The piece im guessing weighs about 500-700 grams, iv got a DSB, np reactor, very big skimmer and about 8 -10 kg of LR, i know i dont have enough lr but thats the whole idea, just want this 1 more very beautiful piece
