    Hi Guys,

Is there a recommended cuc size per gallons ?
The reason i ask, i have one snail in my tank, who does pretty well, but on liveaquaria for a 55 gallon they sell a "reef cleaner pack" for a 55 gallon which has around 70 different types of snails, hermits etc..
To me 70 seems extremely excessive.

    Thoughts?

If that is correct, then i am clearly doing something wrong, and are there any sponsors that could put together a cuc pack like that ?

If you got loads of algae and a nutrient problem. Then yes, lots and lots of snails can help. Too many of them and they all will be slowly starving to death.

I do have a lot of snails. How many, I do not know. I do not clean the back panel of the display either. Extra feeding area for the snails.

And how big is your tank.

Having 50 hermits could become rather expensive. Alternative is a holiday trip down to Natal collecting some Yellow tip hermits.

    Premium Reef Cleaner Packs

That is the link, bottom of the page is a table with various tank sizes and suggested number of inverts.
I have a 200l tank, think i have enough algae for 3-4 more snails, but nothing close to what liveaquaria suggests. so just wanted to find out if that is the generally accepted number or what.

I would half their suggested numbers.
Also on a brand new tank, so many herbivores within the first week could also be an issue. First need some detritus and algae before adding a big clean up crew.

Yeah, well, pretty mature rock that's been in my old tank for a year.
