    Hi Hennie

On a 4ft tank, probably going to be 75cm wide x 60cm high, if I had this made out of 10mm glass, or possibly 8mm glass, with euro bracing, do you think I would need any cross braces?

    Thanks.

The water height has the greatest influence on the glass thickness requirement. If your tank is going to be 60cm high the water level will realistically be around 55cm - 57cm high. Using 55cm hight, the glass thickness calculator gives a safety factor of 3.6 with 10mm glass, and 2.8 for 8mm glass. At a water level of 57cm the safety factor is still 3.2 for 10mm glass, but only 2.1 for 8mm glass.

Given the above, I would recommend that you use 10mm glass for the sides, with Euro-bracing both top and bottom. I don't think you would need any cross bracing in the center of the tank.

Great, thanks Hennie, I'll do it with 10mm glass then.
