i would investigate water quality, from the pic i can see quite a bit of cyanobacteria on the substrate and rock suggesting insuffiecient flow and a nitrate value presence,

what you are seeing is possibly a symptom of these values being increased,

extra aeration a thorough testing of water values and a waterchange pending the outcome is what i would suggest in the short term

    good luck.

Organism and pollutants also heavy use of activated carbon.
Heavy use of activated carbon in marine tanks can cause head lateral line erosion disease most often seen on fish in the surgeonfish family.

Me to, we looking for a problem to salve. And heavy use of activated carbon in a marine tank CAN CAUSE heada lateral line erosion disease. MOST OFTEN seen on fish in the surgeonfish family.

    2. Heavy use of activated carbon also have a in pack on you soft corals, if use heavy activate carbon it remove some off the nutrients for your soft corals.

Hi tyronvs, hope you can find the solution as I had the same spots on my foxface and lost him, treated him for WS with metro. See attached pic.
