    Hi
I'm into the final straight now - lighting!
    My tank is 180 x 75 x 75, water depth 62cm
It's going to be a reef tank with mostly soft corals and fish

At the moment I am thinking of
    6 T5 80W (58 inch)
    2 140W VHO Actinics
    All with reflectors

I have 3 digital timers with battery vbackup, so I can let the lights come on/off at different times.

Will this be sufficient for what I want to do? I don't want to make an expensive mistake at this stage, as so far I have only bought some bio rock that I decided I didn't need. Thats the only wastage so far on spend of R20k+ !

If you decide to go ATI or Giesseman for those T5's you will pretty much be able to keep anything in there.

Dont tell anyone but I think T5's are the shit, if you have a look how many tanks in the states run SPS on T5/VHO fluorescent youll be amazed.

Hi Bayls - I am with Kanga on this one....

I am indeed running Metal Halides, BUT also think that T5's are the way to go....

And 6 x 80 watt T5's - you just CANNOT go wrong here!

I don't think you will need two of those 140w actinic, they are quite potent, one should be plenty.

Yep I also think 2 140VHO actinics may be a little overpowering. Depending on the colour spectrums of the T5's though. There is only one way to find out though.
