i recently replaced my T5 HO lights with 160W Razor 16K LED's. my corals have responded fantastically but my colarine seems to be fading/bleaching on some of the rocks. could the new lights be doing this or does it sound like a chemical problem?
that's the thing it doesn't look like the bleaching is concentrated under the lights. the other thing is cyano also went crazy after the new lights were put in. i'm starting to win that war now by cutting the nutrient levels in the water (also adjusted the light levels down). could the diminished nutrients affect coraline? also odd is the fact that sps and lps are growing and look great.
could also be a sign of low alk and ca.. its happened to me where I get white spots on my live rock where the coraline algae goes white and I check for alk amd ca and one od them is usually reaching low level. I have also noticed that my led lights are growing my sps alot faster than when I had my 2x quad 39watt t5s so my consumption is a lot higher
i normally check my params once a week. i try keep my alk at 3.00 meq/l. i know some guys go higher than that. could this be a problem? my other params are within the "good' range. check on the weekend cal was at 440, mg 1350, ph at 8.2
