    hi Guys

My corals are looking very sad at the moment. Both the Green Brains used to be very green but has slowly turned a brownish rust colour. The Red has also lost its colour. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? 26724cf3427b3c417.jpg 26724cf342c07659f.jpg 26724cf342fc27fb6.jpg 26724cf3431c4d562.jpg

Hi Slims, I'm no coral expert (yet, lol). Not sure what lights you are using, but I had a similar problem on my big tank last week (only have a Kenya tree and some zoa's in there). Eventually figured out two of the four T5 tubes weren't working anymore. Replaced them and wow - what a difference. Amazing that as the tubes gradually go, one doesn't notice the difference.

Hey Chas84. Where your T5 not working at all or not working to full potential?
    I've got 6 T5 in a 4 foot tank - 2 white , 3 blue & 1 Actinic.

Also swapped my T5's this weekend, it is actually insane what a difference it makes. But this could also be a nutrient problem. I know SPS go brown with too high nutrients, not sure that it relates to this though

How long have you had the corals?
Has the change been slow or did it happen rapidly?

Hey Slims, no they're working fine, but over a period of a week or two, two of the tubes "blew", causing less light and I guess because it hapened gradually I didn't notice the difference. Are all your T5 tubes on?

Parameters are all within range. My alkilinity was a bit low 2 weeks ago so i added a buffer to get it up. Other than that i had a WS outbreak and was treating with Costapur.(lost 5 fish btw)

Add some iodine to your water which will bring out the green again
