well actually i realy like bug photos so id rather vote on which i personally think is the best photo, seeing as its a photographic comp. but if your photo is the best on merit then i'll vote for that, if not then i'll vote for a bug

    Thanks for your reply Crispin.

I did say you can vote for my photo if you like it. I personally think its techincally the best photo. Shooting pics through 12mm glass and water is very tricky, a 1mm angle will give you refraction and mess with depth of field and sharpness. I purposely shot this pic with a stock standard lens as I didnt own a macro lens at the time.

Thanks Sean. The composition of the Dragonfly is OK, but could be improved with more selective focusing. It seems a bit weird for the eyes and wings to be in focus, I would have expected more detail for a macro shot

Hence making it "different" and nice, compared to the usual shot ;)

when you use a macro with a close focussing distance the DOF is very thin (even with a larger fstop/smaller apreture), focus stacking is an option but not with something that is going to be moving in a few seconds

    Hi Crispin

I just tried the link above and it works, maybe you need to log into to facebook first

Try this Incompatible Browser | Facebook

    or

If you still cant get to this then you can copy paste this in the the facebook search button. For some reason this forum thread doesnt allow posting of the url

Search Request....... Canon SA Photo Competition 2011, once there go to the photos section on LHS links, then select 'It's in the detail'

    Thanks for voting
