Please can someone help me out with this one. My cousin found this rolling around in the surf this morning. She thaught it would look good in my tank and brought it to me. It is VERY delicate, when you touch it it just crumbles. I honestly thought it was dead and put it in the tank for decoration. Apparently it was out the water for about half an hour but it is still alive.

Its a bad photo, my camera battles to focus on the tank. I don't think it is a sponge it has a very brittle whitish skeleton. When it went into the tank it was white and looked like just a skeleton. It looks like it is just the polyps that are pink.

Looks like a colony of coral worms, but its just a guess.
Will be interesting to hear what it is.

Can't seem to find any pics of coral worms. Are they good or bad?

Not realy sure, the name sugests bad, but i think its because they make there own " coral tubes " like a coco worm, but out of the surounding sandstone or substrate.

Hope i dont get slated for my vauge replies, but im suere you will get the correct answers when more guys are online.
The anglers out there might know, try looking up corol worm bait ?

what is there structure made of ?

seem to be calciferous(?). It is white like an old coral skeleton, but so delicate though that every time you touch it you feel it crumbling.
