Would anyone be interested in having a coral/frag swap again at an LFS?

Big holding tank to view corals properly unless everyone brings transparent containers.

No stealing corals and making a run for it. On a serious note the last event worked very well at Lifestyles. Each coral is allocated a number and people can swap or pay for a particular number they have their eye on. End of the day you give the number tags in and take the coral/s home. Nice social event and we can get a few new coral colonies or frags whilst meeting fellow reefers.

Sounds good, I'd be keen once I have fraggable corals to swop. My goal was always to swop instead of sell when I start fragging.

Using an LFS holding tank sounds like looking for trouble though.

I know that many LFS keeps their holding tanks, including coral tanks, at lower salinity. Much lower than the average reefer's tank anyway. Corals / frags will have to be acclimated into the LFS tanks, just to be acclimated again a bit later into the new owner's tank. It could also be a way to infect many corals and reefer's tanks, if one of the corals have a pest or ailment.

I like the idea of using an LFS as a meeting place, but maybe separate transparent containers will be less stressful to the corals and less risky too.

Will be. But I'm low on frags at the moment. But yes, would still be interested.

Valid point. The shop could organise a dedicated tank for the day that isnt connected to the rest of their systems. There should be a dipping station that all corals must go through before going into the frag tank.

Are you going to organise one for cape town @Hails ?

The date and venue haven't been confirmed as of yet, but hopefully within the next month. I'd just like to get an idea if people would be interested in joining.

    Hi Guys
I have a bit of aiptasia and tried the green spotted filefish but they were nipping at my corals! So they have gone back to the LFS , ANd I was wondering if anyone knows where one could get some Berghia Nudibranches?

Idol Marine had some of those nudibranches sometime last year. Not sure if they still have. Try to phone them up. Maybe you are in luck.
