    Hello Masa

Ok, this is a 2 part question.

First question is: What is the best store bought coral food available in Cape Town?

Then I have been doing allot of reading up on homemade coral food recipes. Second question is: Store bought vs. homemade, which will lead to more substantial growth?

I have attached a poll for question 2.

    Thanks

A really difficult question to answer when the term Coral is used.
A lot of soft corals will mostly eat phytoplankton and the rule of thumb for reef building stony corals is zooplankton.
Prey size is directly linked to the type of coral, determined by what it can capture, trap externally, digest with its mesanterial filaments, etc.
There simply isn't one food that covers the spectrum, and the reality is that in trying to add a mixture of all as a shotgun approach is more likely to raise nutrient levels, i.e. be counterproductive.

If I have to answer, i would say amino acids like Seachem reef plus or the ones made by red sea or two little fishes (acro power ?) would be my answer.
There really isnt much evidence out there to support my answer, but in theory it makes sense.

So to give all the corals in a mixed reef a balanced diet you would need a phytoplankton culture and a zooplankton culture? Would you mind expanding on the amino acid theory?
