Mine grabs hold of brine and mysis that float by when feeding the fish. They will filter feed and dont really need to be fed as such, but will grab food if you feed them ;)

    Hey guys,

Is it ok if |I just drop a block of frozen mysis in the water and let it dissolve on its own, letting the current from my powerheads move the food around? or shuold I do a target feed? I have tried a target feed in the past, but as soon as the jet of food hits the hammer or frog, it closes up, so I have just been dropping the ice cube in the water and letting it naturally float around.

Also, when is the best time to feed? Mine tend to close up a little when the lights go out, yet, in the morning, when the lights are on, they are both full and fluffy... which is when I have been dropping in food.

I agree with thawing and rinsing the mysis shrimp.

Hey Achilles, thank you sooooo much for this info. Fortunately, I do not have any fish yet, I have a couple of shrimps and they seem fine as well as the corals, what I have noticed though is some of my rock is goign white, I did a water check, calcium and phosphate levels are in check, and I think it may be related to this exact warning I have posted here. I am THROWING away the frozen brine when I get home. I have been using frozen MYSIS for the last couple of days, but will also rinse and strain it as suggested and see if the aglae will grow back over the rocks.

    Thanks again!
