Coral farming

    Hey there guys does anyone one this forum farm coral????
    I am setting one up should be up by next year. will be farming sps, lps, soft corals and live rock.

    I will be running:

    250w 20 000k hd bulbs
    skimmer
    calcium reactor
    sump
    refugium

    Sounds great!
    On a coral farm i personally wouldnt recommend such high K rating bulbs,i would go 10K, as the main aim is growth.You can always add on T5 actinic's for colouration.

    Please tell us more about your plans.

    Ill be starting off with one tank of about 850l 2.4m x 1,2m x 0.3m.

    I may just add a 70w 20 000k with the 250w 10 000k

    Great dimensions. I like a shallow tank for propogation purpouses (better light penetration)

    I have been planing this for a long time and plans have changed so many time. The space I am using can hold 10 of these tanks.

    I have made some rocks which are curing at the moment I will use them to propagate live rock. I have like 200gks wich will be ready in 4 weeks.

    hello, if you're in it for the $$$ why not just go with a greenhouse and natural sunlight to minimize your electrical bill...

    yup, most of the large scale coral farmers use gh's, there's lots of good info on the net (even on a local site :whistling:)

    the area were I would set up the 10 vats is going to be a gh but the first vat is going to be on the veranda and it does not get much light.

    how many 250w mh are you going to use on the 2.4m tank( i'll guess 3)
