    Hi all

i have an acropora coral which came with a coral crab (really small so i cant really id it), i purchased a raccoon butterfly hoping it wouldnt eat the coral, but it demolished most, if not all of it, in 2 nights. (i did do my research, but there's always hope :whistling: )

we had to separate it and then swapped it out the next week end.

i havent seen any polyps coming out of the acropora and its been almost a week. before the butterfly, the polyps would extend daily. They were brown and short, but they were there.

i've read that corals do better with crabs, but i havent read anything about the other way around, so i'd like to know if my crab is going to be ok, or what i should do to ensure its survival.

i'm hoping the acropora grows back but i have no idea how long it'll take or if it has any polyps to propogate from.

the acro has some white tips about 2-3mm from the tip) but the rest is still brown.

water params are all good except alk is sitting at 7.5ish. we are trying to keep it around 8 or 9, but its still fluctuating a bit.

    many thanks.

    B

Here's a pic of a claw. its the best pic i could get thus far. claw is in the center of the image.

its really shy and about 1cm in length, red or reddish brown top shell and white underside, from what i could catch when it popped out a bit.

the acro is about 8cm in height so its a small frag.

    thanks all.
