    Hi everyone,

My friend gave me a big stony coral that dried up an is white. I was wondering if i could break it up into pieces and add it to the sump as filtration.

Would that be a good idea?

Awesome Will do it then. I also thought there would be no problem, just wanted to make sure that there are nothing that would leech into the water

    Well.

Did it come out of his tank? Where was it while it dried out?

Should be good to go. Might leach some phosphates if his tank had phosphate problems.

    But nothing major

It will cycle a bit, as the dead coral stuff decomposes. But then you will end up with ... live rock :)
