    Hi guys,
Please help, I think there may be something wrong with my CBB? :(:(
I went home this morning around 10:30 to find the the main plug that supplies all the power to my tank was switched off, not sure for how long but I left home around 8:40am so not longer than 1hr40min. The tank has gone longer without power but I always stuck in an air pump, anyway, got home and got a skrik, switched power back on and noticed right away the CBB laying on the substrate.

a few sec's later, he started swimming but I noticed his mouth was gaping and breathing quite rapidly, also it's tummy looks unusually fat.

if anybody can please advise as to what the problem may be? :(:(:(
I'm busy uploading a vid as well, will post as soon as it's done.

Here is a pic of him....

Not sure, very strange that he's gotten so sick in just an hour or so? Apart from his breathing is he swimming normally?

When did you last have a good look at the fish before this incident? Has the bloated stomach just appeared all of a sudden or have you noticed it gradually swelling up over the last few days?

If it's big enough then yeah, any tank could be used, but instead of fresh salt mixture I would take tank water and put it in the QT, then top up the display tank with a fresh salt mix. Otherwise there may be too large a difference in parameters and it may shock the fish and kill it. Ensure temp is the same as well before transferring him.

Shot! It is big enough, around 250x250x300 (LWH) can get 25L of water in it.
in terms of medicating, once I'm done using the tank, do i just give it a good clean out and can it still be used as my top up tank?

Not sure what happened. How many fish in the tank? Can it be that the oxygen be depleted in that time? If yes, could it not be that the CB gasped for air at the surface and maybe swallowed some? It happens with humans that you sometimes "sluk 'n wind" :p

Of the top of my head, about 17 fish which includes 3 x anthia's and 4 chromis all small, could be it grabbed air as you suggested but all other LS seem fine...

Sorry to hear dude that really sucks. If it is worms plan on doing some meds as a precaution for the other fish. Worms usually transfer to the other fish when they eat each others poooop.

    Let us know!
