How does one get to see the Copods in / around the rocks. Is there some light device / spectrum to use that will show it in the night?

you can put some red celopane over a flash light, they are not so sensitive to red spectrum

I use a headlamp, they nearly all have a red setting. The headlamp also keeps my hands free when target feeding my LPS at night.

How does one increase the Copepod population in your tank?

I used to see them scurrying around at night but of late they seem to have disappeared or their numbers have dwindled significantly.....
    thx

Feed zooplankton. Have a small tank bubbling zoo and give your sump a daily dose. Call us

Hermfish - where are you based, they are easily collected in Cape Town at low tide by shaking sea-weed in a bucket, you will be amazed at the results

Speak to Andre, get some zoo and phytoplankton, feed that to the tank and your pod population should naturally increase. It also depends on predation, obviously if they are being eaten faster than they are breeding you will eventually have a problem. Hence most people have a fuge with no predators and that is a safe haven for them to breed. Copepods can also make the journey through the return pump no problem.

Yes. As long as you have a place for them to live in, such as rock etc, they will live happily. On the net you can also find pod breeding houses, for a lack of better words. Its a drinking straw structure where the pods can safely live and breed.

Still looking for pods, if you have a sump you have pods

    Morning All,

I am still hoping to get a few (10) pods without having to go collect them in Cape Town ?? If You have a sump, you have pods (sounds like lice) it's the small cockroach looking insect that runs around (mostly at night).

If anybody can help with a few, I will collect or send a courier to collect - Would just love to get a culture breeding and I really have none.

    Any help please

Still recovering from your operation? If you don't come right you can get a rock or just some adult pods from me. Whatsapp me if you still have my number.
