Can you give some details on the construction of the housing?

This is a ballast that had me confused. I also got one ballast like this and also struggled. From the diagram it looks like you need to bridge the one wire the one that connects into 21. The rest though is pretty basic.

26 and 27 to one endcap, 24 and 25 top another endcap,

bridged 21 goes with 22 is other endcap (pairs with 24/25)

Other bridges goes with 23 and forms the other pair with 24/25.

And when I read the above I can just laugh at my ignorance

Ok thanks for the info but I ams till confused I thought that you only use 21 - 23 if your place is running 330V. is there no way you could supply a quick sketch of what you saying

OK, that looks pretty straightforward :)

Place the ballast and lamps in front of you in the same orientation as on the ballast sketch, with the ballast connection slots to the right, as in the photo. Now, if I read this right, the slots are numbered 21 to 27 from the top to the bottom - is that correct? If so, then connect the two right hand side pins of the first bulb to slots 24 and 25 on the ballast respectively. Connect the right hand side pins of the second bulb to slots 26 and 27.

Connect one of the left hand side pins of bulb one (does not really matter which one, but if you follow the diagram it would be the top pin...) to slot 22, and connect the same pin on the left hand side of the second lamp to slot 23.

Now, connect both the remaining pins on the two lamps (one pin remaining on each lamp...) to slot 21 of the ballast, and you're done. As an alternative, you could connect the last remaining pin of the one lamp to the second lamp's remaining pin, and then take a single wire from that pin to slot 21.

Good luck with the wiring :)

Sorry dude, for your own safety and others it is best to get someone to help you. That drawing is pretty straight forward. If you battle to read it, it is best left to an e3lectrician/technician who can. 240V is not to be trifled with.
