    Hi all!

any concrete tanks in jhb? i am thinking about building a tank from concrete and would like to see if there are any builders or people with experience in jhb, i know @seank has one :)

looking at something 3000x1500x700 with water at 650, based on this i am thinking of going with 15mm glass
here is my bath which is concrete and 12mm glass and works well :) its what inspired me

    Hey fella,

I've been pondering the same thing. Had an epiphany the other night lying in bed and have got a great area for a tank. It will also harness mostly natural light. I'd be dead interested to find out more.
Guess a solid read through seank's thread may be the only solution. Might catch you at the expo.

I'd be interested to know what the rate would be relative to a glass structure.

    Specs: 3600 x 800 x 700, water at 650.
3 Sided with front length 3100, ie 250mm lip left and right to glaze against.
    Cast in-situ with Rebar.

It will sit on the Northern face so I'll build a skylight reflector box to direct natutral light in.

Base can be built up with a face brick for max capacity. Void for sump will need to be carefully considered. Haven't give that much thought yet.

    Cheers

Sorry Dallas for hi jacking your thread :p

Also following intrested to know how it could be sealed, last time I checked with a LFS in Durbs bout theirs and was told its done with normal fible glass and epoxy and sealed off with a gel coat. Also how would one calc the thickness of the concrete in rlation to the depth.

What ideas do you have on sealing it?
