    Hi all

I just seen that Computer Corp has a sale going on and have a 600VA ups from 199.00
    220/230/240VAC
    50Hz or 60Hz
Backup time: 1 pcload with 15" monitor for 33 minutes.

    With a few other things.

ny idea of how long it will last if its running just a return pump of between : 30W - 80W ?

Hi ziyaad - if it can hold one of the new pc's for that time then i'm impressed coz the psu on the pc should be nothing less than 300 watts so if the return is 30watts then it should hold the pump running for 330 minutes but my experience with the ups units rated at 600va it should give you only about 15-20 minz max! Your best bet is to physically test the unit but I find it very hard to believe those running time figures!

yeah, i bought a 1KVa UPS and its rated @ 40min for 1PC at full load , i tested it on my lights 324Watts and it lasted 24min....

i worked out that i need 58Watts of power to keep my system stable if the power fails
that includes the skimmer, return pump, air pump and Seio prop530

but the funny part is that the ups will not drive my return pump even after it has been charging for 5hours....

guys, please note these UPS are Modified Sine Wave type and not designed to run induction pumps, they will run a pump but cause it to get hot, rattle, and probably will only perform about 25% of their rating.

Take it you mean Lighty ?

Try your pump but really doubt it will work, but it can power some low power lighting and air pump, which can pump O2 into the tank when theres a power failure.

You need a true sine wave ups. I bought a 800 va for R3 800 and connected 2 deep cycle batteries to it. Expensive but well worth it.
