Guys, Alida tried to send an e-mail yesterday, but she got a message that said "not enough disc space" or something. It gave her the option to free up disc space and to "compact" the messages, which she did.
I have made a lot of sub folders under the folders section in outlook where I sort the different messages I get. When I opened Outlook this morning, all of the subfolders with it's contents were gone.
I did a system restore, but still, nothing. I found the folders under,:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{3AF0DB6A-F7E1-47A5-B0F5-7A4FA2C20A8D}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

But I cannot seem to open or restore any of them. All of the folders have a "Internet explorer" Icon on it and if I say open, it just goes back to the page and says open.

Please help- how can I retrieve all the folders as most of my work is stored under the different folders?????

Did she perhaps archive your emails to another folder?

Have you tried File >>> Import >>> Messages ? That's from inside Outlook Express.

    message recovery could be easy:
    • Exit Outlook Express.
    • Look in your Windows Recycle Bin for a .dbx file corresponding to the folder from which mail is missing.
    • Restore the .dbx file.
    • Start Outlook Express.

None of the above worked. Dean, I did try File, import etc, but it does not import anything.

I did find a.bak file though that I restored, but still nothing. I then tried the steps explained here- Why You Should Let Outlook Express Compact Messages When It Asks You - About Email

But nothing. The way the guy explains what he did in Dean's quoted message, I can not understand.

I can find where outlook stored the files: "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{3AF0DB6A-F7E1-47A5-B0F5-7A4FA2C20A8D}\Microsoft\Outlook Express" , But can still not open, nor restore them. Maybe give me a step by step as to how this other guy renamed the folder, as I get lost where he deletes one folder and renames it.

    HEEEEEEEELPPPPPPP

    cool, first thing
click the tools menu, then folder options
    then view tab
then in the list of options there is a line that says hide extensions for known file types, uncheck this , then give me the full name of inbox

This is how Outlook looks now, I cannot even retrieve old messages:

All of the subfolders that dissapeared was on the left of the page, under all the other folders:
