Well I filled the tank with water around the 17/09/2009 and started with cheap pumps. I have a few Seio pumps some not ever a year old.
The tubes in the tank now are about 3 months old.

Here is a link to the whole tank build so you can see the work done and all aspects of electrical parts.
My Other Build - Marine Aquariums of South Africa

@ Leslie must try to sell as a whole but if you look at how I put it all together you can see how easy it is to do, if you need help to build one just give a shout.

I second that, as I know this tank. Perfect starter tank for the perfect price. Nice cabinet and impressive electrical components.

Guys I have also seen this setup and trust me it is a steal at this price....the skill involved in the whole system is really awesome, nothing looks DIY.

Zombie if I had the space :whistling:...will unfortunately have to be content with something smaller for now

    Hi there.

I'm interested in buying this setup - is it still for sale?

Would it be good as a starter, for a complete beginner, like me, who wants to learn?

In addition to what is provided here, what else would I need to get?

Some of the things I can think of:

    - A reverse osmosis machine to make water
    - Aquarium salt
    - Some drums to hold the water
    - A siphon/vacuum
    - Refractometer to measure salinity
    - Test Kits (Phosphate, Nitrite, Nitrate, Calcium, Alkalinity, pH, Amonium/Amonia)
    - Sand for the DSB (Can I get this from a beach here?)
    - Live Rock (How much would I need for the cycling?)

Apologies for all the questions. I'm trying to see how much I would have to spend in total to get the tank cycled as that would be the biggest once-off expense. The other livestock would be added slowly to the tank and be a gradual expense, hopefully :).

yes true, this seems decently priced to me as you get flow pumps etc with it

To answer your questions, yes you can use beach sand or even go to any baby shop and buy some playsand then wash it like ten times and it becomes white and perfect for marine tank use.

Live rock quantity is debatable but some people use around 1 kg per 10l of water as a guide although i have seen stunning tanks with like 1kg per 4l of water and also as low as 1kg per 25l of water...the important thing is to keep it structured such that there is nice flow all around it and no dead spots in between the rocks.

Hi Andre, this would be ideal for a beginner as you would just need to place it where you want it , fill and be patient. Very well built and designed

As for your other questions, have a look at the beginner section LOADS of info there

    Good luck

@AndreM I think its a good place to start as the tank is not to small so easier to mantain a stabble enviroment.

Futher more I have got some salt, drums, aragonite for the display tank that I can give to the buyer with the tank. I have some other bits that I could sell that I was going to keep for the next system
