Hi all as my name suggests I'm a complete beginner. I've just bought a boyu tl550 and am looking for suggestions on the best way to set it up. I've been searching the net a lot and im not sure if I should go with fish only or fish with live rock/sand and help on this would be much appreciated:)

    Welcome to MASA

Fish with live rock is a must although most guys eventually move to corals as well. The fish need hiding places to feel safe. Substrate/sand makes the tank look more appealing opposed to a glass bottom.

There is plenty info on the site when it comes to setting up a tank but dont be scared to ask as a lot of pet shops out there will try and sell you rubbish or give bad information.

You cabn start a new thread revolving around your tank and we can help you along. No question is too stupid

If you find you want to keep corals as well then you have to be more aware of the fish you buy. A fish only tank allows you to keep non reef safe fish which are as beautiful as corals in their own right but will make a quick meal of your prized coral

Thanks a lot Tony I would be very interested in starting a thread about my tank but have no clue how to. Can you help please? Also I've found a guy who lives close to me who is selling live rock directly from his very large tank.(cheap) the min he will sell per time is 10kilos I have a 130 litre boyu tank (second hand)would 10 kilos be ok and would it be ok to put the entire 10 kilos in at once as I don't have the facilities to store any else where. I found a post from reef maniac which I found extremely helpful, but still not sure if it's ok to do it this way. Thanks , Jamie
