    Hey All,

We're off to Umhlanga in two weeks, are there any nice spots closeby for catching some fish or getting some local zoas? etc?

    Thanks :peroni:

Do you have means to transport them back alive?
    Also your license

    Better to go prepared.

    Hey Riaan,

Yes, I have special containers & a battery operated air pump for their trip back. We have successfully transported fish back in the past without any fatalities this way. I also do a water change halfway back with fresh sea water from a separate container.

I also have my license in place, just need to confirm that it is still valid :)

    cool.
Yip, been down to rocky bay end of last month. Got mostly snails, small hermits and urchins. The water down there is bloody cold. So no heater is needed. Else you struggle with water changes.

Do not keep zoas and button polyps in the same container that snails and hermits. The zoas foul up the water easily.

Catching fish, I'm see them in the rockpools, but its normally too open to be able to catch anything. Should be more than one person. (I think).

Charka's Rock just up from there is a excilant place to catch. There is a large rock pool there so you will need more that one of you and plenty of nets. Be warned the path back up to the road is steep, especialy carrying water containers. There is also plenty of live cowries in that pool. I have collected Semicircularis, 2 diferant kinds of buterflys as well as lionfish to name butg a few. The one time a ranger thought that I did not have a licence and got very snotty with me but when I showed it to himj he helped me catch the Semi.

Remember that NSW is full of life that will die and fowl your containers and posibly kill your livestock. Even if you filter it through a Tshirt before you put it in your container it will help a bit. If it was me I would take down saltwater mix and get your stockm used to it down there. Your call!

Keep in mind the licence specify that a log book should be kept for all collections.

if im not mistaken, You can also get a license for 6 months and I think also 1month license, Which will obviously be cheaper for you if your using it just this once...
