Hi guys I bought a clown tang on monday from a lfs looking good and grazing on the sand. I acclimated the fish for about an hour and 30 min. Due to having copper in my quarantine tank. Last night he was not looking good on his side and raping breathing. I transfered him to my DT sump with an air stone.
My copper levels is fairly low at between 0.1 and 0.25. Nh3 is 0, No2 is 0 and No3 is 0.5. Temp was a bit high during the day at 27.5.
He is looking bettter today, buoyancy is back to normal and the rapid breathing is a but slower. How can one avoid this in the future?

Sounds to me like he was very stressed out, and the copper in the qt added to that - just keep an eye on him and hopefully he recovers fully.

Instead or using copper maybe do TTM (tank transfer method). Think there's a thread somewhere around by RiaanP. Called the bucket method.

Copper is a very aggressive treatment.
