Anyone in the Jozi area keen on trying their hand at raising clown fry? My Osc pair lay eggs like clockwork and it really seems like such a waste for them only to perish.
If anyone is, I could let you know the expected hatch date and net them out of the main display and keep in a holding container?

My wife made the decision that I need to try and raise our clown fry.
I got all the kit, got my phytoplankton and rotifers going.
The big issue is time, it is very time consuming to raise the fry.

I ended up deciding that this is not for me and sold the fry raising gear!

    Best of luck!!!!!

Just to raise the question, i have heard that two species of clowns cannot be in the same tank..is this true? Even if they are both in a pair?

a pair of the same species can be in the same tank. clown are all born males and the larger one becomes female and pairs off with one of the males. If you add two juveniles they should pair up without any problems, introducing two females might cause issues.
with regards to keeping more than one pair of different species...not a good idea as they will see each other as competition and may end up killing each other.
BUT it also depends on tank size. If the tank is large enough and each pair/species can have a large enough area, then they should be alright together. Also depends on which species as some are much more aggressive than others.

Nonsense, you're making an issue out of nothing. That was one isolated case that nobody knows the full story about.
