    Hey guys

Just a quick question. I have two common clowns and they thought that the goniopora is an anename, so I bought a purple tip for them a week ago. The problem is they still think it is a ananame. How long will it take for them to see that there is a anename there?

maybe never, I have seen clowns host goniporas to death importunity, but lets wait for the experts.

My take would be take the goni out and sump it for a while and leave the nennie in there and see what happens. If the clowns host in the nennie than u put the goni back

Hi paul had a similar situation with my clown who hosted in both my magnifica anemone and crown leather but eventualy left the leather for the anemone. Are your clowns aware of the anemone because mine dnt venture far from the anemone and sumping the goni would let them find a new home and maybe moving the anemone to where the goni is if u can with out hurting it could work.

My clowns host with my xenia. They seem to have a natural tendency to host which could be wiht just about anything in the absence of an anemone. My solution would be to remove the goniopora and place it in your sump as the will eventually kill it. Maybe when it is gone they will start noticing the anemone but it can take week or never happen

thanks guys, and yes i did put the anamone close to the goni.
won`t the light in the sump be a issue for the goni. i have a 6400K energy saver there.

I would try moving it for an hour or two. You can also try moving it to a different area of the tank, out of view from the clownfish.

wont you cause more stress to the goni by removing it, as they struggle in marine enviroments as is?
Are the clowns compatible with the nemmie?
I would rather cover the goni, chase and herd the clowns with a net into or toward the nemmie, as sure they will take refuge in there and then realise where they hosting and stay put.

It will be fine placing it in the sump for an hour or two. I am more concerned that the clowns will stress it out more than a short visit to the sump.
