    my tank is twenty months old. mostly stocked with LPS corals. T
    and two anemones two soft corals and some discosoma's and some zoanthus. Parameters are all normal. Water change of 120 litres done two weeks ago. My tank is 800 litres with the sump. Skimmer "Octopus"150 x . 1500 litres per hour. The same goes for return pump. Have 5 tang,s , two anemone fish and 4 cromis. The water circulation in tank is supported by 4 pumps plus minus twenty thousand litre per hour. The lighting consists of 4 white and 4 blue T5 globes. Feeding done twice a day with kelp and some frozen food.
    Any suggestions and help would be appreciated.

    The two probable reasons for cloudy water are 1) a bacterial bloom caused by excess dosing of carbon sources and 2) some type of chemical reaction between Ca/Mg and carbonates/bicarbonates.

    Please supply more information on what supplements you are dosing, how much and how often and also let us know what your alk/Ca/Mg levels are.

    Everything said above, add possibility of clams spawning.

    Same problem with Milky tank but what does one use to get the water clear ? I have used clarity with limited and short times success but I will admit that I stayed well under the suggested dosage recommended

    hi there thanks for answer my water parameters are ;alkalinity:2,85 ammonia:0 calcium 350; phosphate :0,o5; magnesium 1040; nitrate 2 Yesterday have installed A/carbon . feeding as normal. red seaweed ,fish do not like black one / marine pelets no 2 .
    I am not sure if the whole thing has something to do with August month when start loosing corals . First afected was hammer coral ,second doughnut coral then open brain coral and 5 torch corals. All gone in space of 2 months. Not affected where 5 Zoanthus , Kenya treecoral, Nephthea coral, trompet corals, hairy mushrums clove polyp. All fishes show no sign of any ill effect. The only thing standing out was iodine-iodide who was 0,1+. Tank have +- 50mm deep sand who is constanly sifted by yellow face goby (how do i get rid of it) It leaves sand on low lying corals. Also in tank is +-80kg of live rock:thanks:

    Yes, but without confirmation that's just a guess, and if it does happen to be dKH could be a possible explanation for the cloudy water.

    I'd also recommend doing quite a big water change;
    As you don't know whats causing it as of yet, rather reduce the risk and dilute the water in case it is something which is potentially 'lethal'.
    Did the cloudiness come on suddenly or was it a gradual thing?
    I had the 'reef snow' thing happening in my tank, but in my case the particle size was quite large so was easy to diagnose that it was insoluble carbonates.
