cloudy water at top of tank

    hi guys jus wonderin why is the top of the
    water lookin cloudy and the sides browish
    in my 37 litre tank .wat is the cause
    my tank is 8 months old .

    Had the same problem phosphate levels may be high and tank maybe still cycling ho often do yo do water changes. Had the same problem with my 37litre

    Are you refering to the "oily" slick layer...? Like this...?

    Direct a powerhead towards it and "chop" it up...I sometimes also use a plastic cup and "scoop" it up...

    hi giys Mrblenny i do water changes evey 2 weeks .its a 10% water change
    @belinda that the same stuff like in yr pic

    Thought so...everybody has it...usual it's one of those 4 that could be the cause...try and scoop it...and/or add flow to the surface to "chop" it...go maybe little bit less with "oily" cubes...or just cubes in general I suppose and do more flakes and pellets...the layer restricts light penetration, so try and minimise that layer...flow I think is the best way....obviously a decent Skimmer too..:p

    and flakes ....is tbar cause of high phos

    My bet is that it's a flow problem..follow the direction of the "oil" and see if it gets "sucked" down the "overflow/vents"..chances are that it "swirls" around the entrance...but wait for more replies from the other Members, they could have more experience than me, regarding this situation...:blush:
