    Hi all,

I'm looking for a cleanup crew.
    Tank is 900 x 900 x 500.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

If there are sponsors that have a package deal, please PM me, I'm based in CPT.

I dont think you can get a package deal perce but you can buy hermits X 2, snails X 2 and brittle stars X 1 for your CUC

Ok I'm getting the following as my CUC:
    5 blue leg hermits
    5 turbo snails
    5 nassarius snails
    2 fighting conches
    2 cleaner shrimps

Should I add some of the crabs and snails to my DSB?

Leave the DSB for now. They'll make their way to the bottom from your overflow. If this allows it.

No snails in your DSB. Only hermits.

Also get your cleaner shrimps small. They grow pretty fast and dont last that long.

    Great thanks for the advise.
Nothing will be able to make it from DT to sump :)

Should I start adding something like cheato to the DSB area?

    that is too many.
These snails are vultures. If something died, they will be on it so fast. And that is why they got a reputation of being predators. You walk in, something was alive an 15 minutes ago, now its dead and a snail is eating away on it. good for removing detritus as well. But your tank is too small for 5. Get one, maybe 2.

Do you have some algae yet in the tank for the turbo snails? Else they will quickly become new shells for the hermits.

Is there enough detritus and left over food in your tank for 5 hermits and 2 cleaner shrimps?

What is in the tank? If not mistaken, these will be your first lifestock?

    Hi Riaan,

Yes this will be my first livestock. The last thing I want is to kill the little guys, my wife will name each of them, and I will have a blue eye should something happen to one of them

I was thinking of feeding them small hake pieces at first.
Should have the first fish before Christmas.

Do you think I should get less CUC?

If you got algae layer forming on the rocks and glass, yes, get the snails.
And one maybe two hermits. Can always add more later.

Shrimps are more active feeders. and in my opinion, more vultures than detritus eaters. So yes, if small hake piece is avaiable, the shrimps and hermits will go for it. But my shrimps feed more while I'm feeding my fish flakes. So I will wait with shrimps until I have 1 or 2 fish in there.

I agree with Riaan, wait a bit before adding the shrimps. They are not part of the cleanup crew in the beginning and they are sensitive to changing water parameters.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have a pair of coral banded shrimps and they don't seem to be too sensitive. I have them in a 2 foot nano and my maintenance is not as good as it should be....... I am often away from home for up to 3months at a time and only feeding and top ups are done when I'm not there, no water changes or anything else. They are growing quite well and even spawn(if that is the right word!) regularly.

Yes, that is on existing running system. Not on a brand new tank, where the shrimps will be the first inmates.
